Just Follow My Light
Kate Lange was born and raised in Dubuque where she currently resides with her husband and three children. She works as a school counselor at Carver Elementary. Earlier this year she made her publishing debut with her book Just Follow My Light, which originated as the eulogy for her father’s funeral and was adapted into a children’s story about love, grief, and hope.
While Kate wears many hats in her daily life, she will join us at our Tree of Life Memorial Service, in a role that connects us all. She will share her personal journey through loss, offering her story and the path she has walked through grief. Through her experience, she has found a way to turn loss into something meaningful, creating a story that honors her loved one and brings comfort to others.

Join us this summer for a family workshop supporting our youngest grievers. With a comforting firefly theme, this special gathering will include a heartfelt reading of Just Follow My Light by its local author, Kate Lange. Families will also have the opportunity to create their own lanterns—symbolizing the light we carry for those we love. Through storytelling, creativity, and shared experience, this workshop provides a warm and welcoming space for healing together.
