2023 Friend of Hospice Award
On Thursday, December 14, Hospice of Dubuque Executive Director, Lavonne Noel, presented Betty Takes, with the Hospice of Dubuque Friend of Hospice award. The award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated substantial or long-term dedication to and support of the Hospice of Dubuque mission through outreach, fundraising, and generosity. The award was conferred at the 2023 Volunteer Christmas Party attended by volunteers, friends and members of the Hospice of Dubuque Board of Directors.
Noel stated, “As we concluded our 40th anniversary year, there was no one more deserving of the title, Friend of Hospice, than Betty Takes who has been here since before the beginning. She taught others about end-of-life care and promoted hospice care for our community long before 1983. What started as an idea became a lifelong passion. Thank you, Betty, for inspiring us with your passion for hospice care.”
Betty was one of the original five founders of Hospice of Dubuque. Betty is everything that encompasses the mission of Hospice of Dubuuqe. Betty has forged a path of providing compasionate care for all of us to follow. Thank you, Betty, and congratulations on being designated as Hospice of Dubuque’s Friend of Hospice 2023!
