Hospice of Dubuque

Our Mission

In 1983, a promise was made to the tri-state area. That year, with a small team of nurses and community volunteers, Hospice of Dubuque began serving the greater Dubuque community. The promise was then and still is now, a mission to provide compassionate care for persons with serious illness and their loved ones. All decisions are guided by this mission.

Our Vision

Hospice of Dubuque will advance hospice and palliative care in the tri-states through collaboration, education, stewardship, and dedication to mission-driven care.

Hospice Philosophy

Hospice affirms life and recognizes dying as a part of the process of living. Hospice exists to provide support and care for persons in the last phases of an incurable disease so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death. Hospice exists in the hope and belief that through appropriate care and the promotion of a caring community sensitive to their needs, clients and families will be helped during the processes of dying and grieving.

Our Core Values

Hospice of Dubuque has carried out its sacred covenant with the tri-state community with an unwavering commitment to five core values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Professionalism. These core values represent what Hospice of Dubuque has held dear since its inception and also define how the mission is enacted each day with clients, colleagues, and the community.
